The oldest Ukrainian wooden church in Romania.
The Small Wooden Church of the Ascension in the village of Polyany, Maramures County, Romania, plays an important role in the history of the region’s inhabitants. It was built soon after the arrival on these lands of some inhabitants of Slavic origin, from the lands with the Christian faith – Polish Galicia. It is now expected to restore this iconic site, which should be included in the UNESCO heritage.
