He was mayor, school principal, teacher, athletics coach, and his talent for writing showed quite late. Dmytro Koreniuk from the village of Bystry, Maramures, first arrived in Ukraine in 1993 on the occasion of the first international congress of Hutsuls. This was the moment when he fell in love with the Hutsul region. He was struck by his resemblance to his Hutsuls from Bystro, and so he began to investigate further. He marveled at the richness of the local folklore, which he began to collect, process and propagate. This is how his humorous poems and humor were born, especially inspired by the stories of fellow villagers, stories from their lives, and not only them.
